Data Brothers, Sun Lamp and Ethnic Minorities behind Landscape is an archival documentary. Through a hybrid auto-ethnographic perspective, it explores photovoltaic infrastructure in Guizhou, Southwest China, and the lives of ethnic minorities interwoven between network and realitiy. From conversations while recovering hard drive data in electronic markets, to oral histories of solar lamps in mountain villages, to live streaming of ethnic minorities in urban and rural setting. These seemingly disconnected sites reveal how electricity, as a symbol of modernity, diffuses from the infrastructural landscape into visual culture, how globalized sharing network intersect with local minority experiences and generate a dynamic imaginary.
