About Artist


Yiqing Chen (born in Guiyang, Guizhou) is an artist and digital director currently based in London. His practice spans multiple media from moving image, animation, to the game/XR experiences. Floating between fiction and documentary, his works explore the transnational contexts connected by infrastructure and virtual technology, interwoven with media history, geopolitics as well as narratives of working class and ethnic minority. Yiqing’s practice focus on marginalized lives behind grand structure, and complex technological networks that flow through our daily life in multisensory forms.

Yiqing Chen's work has been exhibited and screened at TATE Britain, ICA London, Cromwell Place Gallery (London), Conditions (London), Wetdovetail Gallery (Middlesbrough), MEET Digital Culture Centre (Milan), HIAP (Finland), ESPRONCEDA Institute of Art & Culture (Barcelona) and more. In 2024, he's "Gaming as Method of Sound Production" won the Artathon Gdańsk by 
Łaźnia Centre for Contemporary Art (Poland), as part of Augmented Europe 2nd funded the European Commission (EACEA). 

Yiqing earned his MA in Digital Direction from the Royal College of Art in London (2021), and his BEng in Internet of Things Engineering (2018).
